A .txt file is universal but unformatted - it prints poorly and looks unfinished when shared. Converting to PDF wraps the same text in a clean document with proper margins and page breaks.
Most .txt files are UTF-8 and convert cleanly including accented and non-Latin characters. If your file was saved in an unusual encoding and characters look wrong, open it in a text editor and re-save as UTF-8 first.
If you need headings, bold text or images, write the document in Word or Google Docs first and use Word to PDF instead - .txt carries no styling by design.
