The tool removes a colour-based background: it detects the background colour (or lets you pick it by clicking on the image), then removes every matching pixel within a tolerance you control. You can fill the space with any new colour or keep it transparent as a PNG.
Product photos on a flat background, passport-style portraits against a plain wall, logos and graphics with a solid backdrop. The "edges only" option removes only the connected outer region - useful when the subject contains the same colour as the background.
This is colour-based removal, not AI. A busy, multi-colour background (a street scene, a garden) cannot be separated cleanly - for those photos you need a dedicated AI background-removal service.
